This year long fellowship is one of several Brackett Denniston Diversity Fellowships offered within GE. The Fellowship will provide opportunities for new attorneys to gain in-house experience in Intellectual Property and Trademark matters across GE. The Fellow will report into the Chief Global Executive Brand Counsel. Candidates graduating in 2017 with an interest in IP and trademark are encouraged to apply.

The Fellow will work with our Trademark and other Intellectual Property attorneys to:

-- Conduct research in on various trademark, copyright, licensing, rights of publicity and related matters.
-- Conduct US Preliminary and comprehensive trademark searches.
-- Draft cease and desist letters related to trademark matters.       --Draft memoranda and provide analysis related to IP/Trademark matters.
-- Draft responses to substantive US office actions.
-- Assist the Chief Global Executive Brand Counsel with simplification projects, workflow function improvement and other legal work.
-- Assist the Chief IP Counsel, Global Chief Privacy Officer, and Critical Information Protection Leader with research, memoranda, simplification projects, workflow function improvement and other legal work

Requirements:

-- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school is required by the start date
-- The lawyer will sit for a Bar exam prior to joining GE

Desired Characteristics: 

-- GPA of at least 3.3 preferred
-- Candidates graduating Spring 2017 and sitting for the bar over -- the summer are welcome to apply
-- Proven record of success and demonstrated leadership ability
-- Expert- level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. PowerPoint and Excel)
-- Solid research and analytical skills
-- Strong written and verbal communication skills

The program is open to current 3rd year law students. Applicants must be in good academic standing and expecting to take the summer 2017 bar exam.
