As Counsel, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) you will work at the direction of the Senior Counsel, BALA in handling business and legal affairs matters for the international channels across all brands in the areas of marketing, communications, advertising sales, content distribution, production and acquisitions, digital media and multi-platform, game and app development, and vendor-related and such other matters as may be requested. Your responsibilities in this role will include:
  • Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on agreements and other ancillary documentation
  • Preparing rights analyses, including for new media/emerging platforms
  • Preparing research and analysis on global compliance and legal issues
  • Coordinating and partnering with BALA representatives in various territories on best practices
  • Counseling various client groups on a wide range of legal matters and collaborating with multiple VIMN departments to implement legal policies and procedures
  • Performing other related duties as required or requested

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant large law firm and/or media company experience
  • JD Degree, admitted in New York or qualified to work in-house in New York
  • Excellent negotiating and drafting skills including ability to interpret and analyze comments from opposing representation
  • Strong working knowledge of content business and general entertainment industry
  • Excited by the opportunity to continuously learn and tackle new challenges
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal client groups and externally with business persons, business affairs and other attorneys
  • Production and Distribution experience and knowledge of intellectual property, software and technology services, digital media, and related privacy issues a plus
  • Ability to work independently and as a team in a highly supportive and high pressure environment to handle a high volume of agreements/matters simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Effectively prioritize, execute and respond to a wide variety of inquiries, both verbally and in written form, with an emphasis on identifying and resolving issues
