The Legal Department for Broadcast Music, Inc. in NY seeks a legal intern for the summer 2019. The ideal candidate will be a first- year law student with an interest in entertainment, music, or copyright law. The legal intern will become familiar with the daily workflow of in-house counsel, assisting attorneys in analyzing case files, completing research and writing assignments, reviewing recent case law on topics central to BMI’s work.
Potential Assignments:
- Shareholder research and communication
- Researching applicable law and preparing memorandums for various matters important to the Legal team
- Assist attorneys in evaluating third party disputes
- Evaluation of copyright, trademark and other intellectual property issues
Qualifications:
- In pursuit of a JD/LLM degree at an accredited institution and able to provide documentation to confirm degree progress
- Must have completed at least one year of JD/LLM program
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Detail oriented and self-motivated
- Proficient in MS Office
- Proficient in Internet research
- Proficient in Social Media
