The Legal Department for Broadcast Music, Inc. in NY seeks a legal intern for the summer 2019. The ideal candidate will be a first- year law student with an interest in entertainment, music, or copyright law. The legal intern will become familiar with the daily workflow of in-house counsel, assisting attorneys in analyzing case files, completing research and writing assignments, reviewing recent case law on topics central to BMI’s work.

Potential Assignments:

  • Shareholder research and communication
  • Researching applicable law and preparing memorandums for various matters important to the Legal team
  • Assist attorneys in evaluating third party disputes
  • Evaluation of copyright, trademark and other intellectual property issues

Qualifications:

  • In pursuit of a JD/LLM degree at an accredited institution and able to provide documentation to confirm degree progress
  • Must have completed at least one year of JD/LLM program
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Detail oriented and self-motivated
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Proficient in Internet research
  • Proficient in Social Media
