This junior position is ideal for someone who graduated from graduate or law school in the last three years. The Fellow will primarily support FPF work on student privacy issues with educators, parents, students, and local and state education agencies. They will also support FPF’s growing portfolio on child privacy generally. The Fellow will work directly with the Director of Education Privacy and Senior Fellow leading FPF’s new Train-the-Trainer student privacy initiative to support the fulfillment of grant deliverables, help respond to technical assistance requests from stakeholders, draft long and short publications and resources, and other responsibilities as they arise. The ideal candidate will be a superior writer; have a strong desire to effect change in the world with a focus on compromise and bringing stakeholders together to find actionable solutions; be able to help translate complicated legal or technical topics for a layperson audience; have the ability to remain professional and impartial while working in a political environment; and have a good sense of humor. The Fellow will interact regularly with leading senior figures in government, corporations, academia, advocacy groups, and law firms. This is a 16-month fellowship in FPF’s Washington D.C. office, and could become a full-time policy counsel position contingent on performance and grant funding.

Qualifications:

  • This is an entry-level position, excellent for someone who graduated from law or graduate school in the past 1-3 years.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including editing and proofreading skills.
  • Demonstrated research skills and a superb ability to synthesize complex information into plain language.
  • A demonstrated ability to work efficiently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong work ethic, sense of humor, flexibility, creativity, and a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work effectively and seamlessly with a wide variety of people.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for the organization.
