Job Duties

  • -- Provide centralized coordination of the affiliates and subsidiaries of Santander US for all the Intellectual Property (IP) issues included but not limited to all related to trade marks, domain names and social media. Support Corporate IP in the effective implementation and spreading of the IP Corporate Model. In coordination with the Corporate IP unit, prepare, publish and distribute the local policies & procedures, for its correct local application.
  • -- Provide expert technical advice to all the affiliates and subsidiaries in USA for all activities related to IP issues, domain names management and protection of our IP rights in social media profiles and accounts.
  • -- Define, along with Corporate IP Unit, the defensive strategy of the trademarks and domain names portfolios and social media profiles of all the affiliates and subsidiaries of Santander US.
  • -- Prepare statements and periodical reports to the Corporate IP Unit of the current situation of the different portfolios, namely, trademarks, patents, domain names and/or social media profiles of affiliates & subsidiaries of Santander US, including estimate reports of the evolution of the expenditure in IP issues.
  • -- Support the Corporate IP Unit in the search and selection or replacement of the IP agents and providers in the US. Oversee, supervise, adjust and control agents¿ functions.
  • -- Collaborate with the Corporate IP Unit in the processes of incorporation and/or transfer of IP portfolios from new acquisitions and/or purchases.
  • -- Support the Corporate IP Unit in the proceedings to be decided regarding national surveillance notices.
  • -- Control the unauthorized uses and eventual infractions of our IP rights in the US.
  • -- Collaborate with the Corporate IP Unit in the spreading and promotion of the good practice in the management and use of our IP rights through the diffusion of internal newsletters and/or publications.

  • -- Implement procedures, policies and corporate / local rules concerning their activity. Participate in surveys and periodical reports to Corporate IP Unit activity

Qualifications

  • -- Bachelor's degree; Juris Doctorate or equivalent from an accredited institution; license to practice law in the United States
  • -- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an intellectual property attorney within a law firm; or performing similar functions within a corporation.
  • -- Licenses/Certifications: Admission to practice law within the United States
  • -- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • -- Independent problem solving skills and strong issue identification skills.
  • -- Strong analytical capability and demonstrated ability to manage high volumes of detailed information.
  • -- Strong written and oral communication skills
  • -- Proven ability to effectively interact with internal customers, internal support and external agents and/or providers.
