CloudFlare is hiring its first full-time public policy person. As one of the Internet's largest global networks - each day over 5% of all web requests flow through our global network - we regularly find ourselves as participants in complex legal and public policy matters. This role is ideal for someone who is a strategic thinker and tactical actor who can navigate complex issues to make the Internet better, while advancing the needs of a high growth, global organization.

We are looking for a candidate that can foster our unique corporate philosophy and approach. We expect the successful candidate to identify, over the horizon, the legislative changes and public policy developments affecting CloudFlare and its constituents. You will advocate to the policies that will advance a better Internet. You will determine which debates we should be at the center of and when we should not engage all.

You will coordinate our diverse, multidisciplinary team who already grappling with policy issues in the regular course of their jobs and develop a consistent set of strategies and campaigns to support CloudFlare’s users, our mission, and the Internet at large. A normal day at CloudFlare will involve working cross-functionally with our teams responsible for: sales, network deployment, compliance and law enforcement requests, and closing strategic deals. The successful candidate will engage our product and engineering teams, from the intern pool to the C-suite, on the policy implications of their products, while advancing their core missions. You will also be in the field, advising policy makers on issues ranging from network neutrality to cyber security.

Requirements
-- The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who is equally versed in day to day policy issues and tactics.
-- Bachelor's Degree (advanced degree highly desirable).
-- At least 10+ years of experience working with government or at a technology company (ideally a mix).
-- Experience with policy at all levels (local, state, federal, and international).
-- Knowledge of computer software, networks, IP, and Internet policy, and you can waltz through a alphabet soup of organizations: IETF, ICANN, ITU, IANA, IGF, FCC, NTIA, DG8, ICG.
-- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
-- Good strategic business sense.
-- The ability to figure anything out in a short time frame.
-- Above all, you love the Internet and have passion for making it better.

Bonus Points
-- Work experience in more than one country; speak more than one language.
-- Ability to write articles or blog posts on various topics that appeal to a broad audience.
-- A CloudFlare customer.
-- Background or technical undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or --- Network Engineering a plus.
