Legal Intern

Radio One, Inc. is an urban-oriented, multi-media company that primarily targets African-American and urban consumers.  Our core business is our radio broadcasting franchise that is the largest radio broadcasting operation that primarily targets African-American and urban listeners.  Radio One currently owns and operates 55 broadcast stations located in 16 urban markets in the United States.  The company’s other business segments include TV One, Interactive One and Reach Media.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Radio One is seeking an intern to assist in all aspects of the Company’s busy corporate legal practice during the 2014 – 2015 school year.  Radio One’s legal department is responsible for overseeing all of the Company’s legal matters, from contest rules to FCC and SEC compliance issues.

Interns will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of communications and business matters, with emphasis on contract review and drafting, communications regulation, and corporate governance issues under the direction of the legal departments attorney’s and paralegals.

Interns must be able to commit to working a minimum of 15-20 hours per week during the school year.  Interns who excel during the school year may be invited to remain on staff full-time during the summer. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must be current law students, in their second or third years. Preference will be given to students with a demonstrated interest in communications and/or corporate law.  Excellent research and writing skills are essential, as are the abilities to work independently and to see projects through completion.

COMPENSATION

The salary for this position is minimum wage ($9.55/hr).

LOCATION

Interns will work in the Radio One corporate headquarters located in Silver Spring, MD, right outside of Washington, DC.  Our offices are metro accessible (via the red line) and located a short walk from the Silver Spring Metro Transit Center.
