The Director of Development is a fundraising professional, responsible for raising CDT’s annual revenue and leading organizational growth. The Director works closely with the President & CEO and the VP, Programs & Strategy in all development and fundraising endeavors.  The successful candidate will help forge new relationships to build CDT’s financial resources.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Director of Development include:

  • Raising the organizational annual revenue from individuals, foundations and corporations;
  • Ensuring the organization’s fundraising practices comply with all financial and fiduciary best practices;
  • Developing and drafting all grant proposals and reports used in foundation and corporate fundraising;
  • Developing and implementing a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with individual donors;
  • Overseeing the creation and implementation of a capital campaign plan;
  • Collaborating with policy directors to maximize potential funding opportunities;
  • In consultation with the President and VP, Programs & Strategy, designing and implementing a strategic plan for growth; and
  • Manage the implementation of CRM, including data entry and gift processing.

Qualifications

This position is designed for candidates with significant experience. An ideal candidate would have:

  • 7–10 years of fundraising experience, with increasing levels of responsibility and management experience;
  • Experience overseeing foundation relations, corporate giving programs, and major donor stewardship;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral and demonstrated ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships;
  • General familiarity with CDT subject matter areas preferred;
  • An advanced degree in business, law, or other relevant area;
  • Salesforce proficiency;
  • Commitment to CDT’s public interest mission; and
  • Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising.

COMPENSATION

Salary is commensurate with experience and is competitive with public interest and government pay scales. CDT provides a generous benefits package that includes health care and dental coverage, a retirement plan, paid vacation, sick days, and parental leave.
