The School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Oregon seeks a tenure-track assistant professor in Communication Law and Policy to join our nationally recognized program that emphasizes experiential learning, strategic thinking, and a commitment to social progress and diversity. We seek a scholar active in research and teaching in areas such as communication law, communication policy, telecommunication law and policy and the constitutional protection of freedom of speech and press.
This position reflects the school’s longstanding commitment to scholarship and teaching focused on freedom of speech and press at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and its commitment to faculty engagement in the national and international communication law and policy discussions in professional and scholarly venues.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. (ABD considered) or a J.D. and will have a well-defined research agenda with evidence of scholarly publication, demonstrated teaching ability at the college level in communication law and policy and in one the school’s undergraduate major areas of study, experience in obtaining grants and external funding, and a record of professional experience in a relevant communication field. Applicants with expertise in video news reporting and production are especially encouraged to apply.
