NCC Group PLC (LON: NCC) (“NCC Group”), based in Manchester, UK, is a global leader in information assurance and houses the greatest number of security engineers worldwide in one corporate family. NCC Group is seeking to hire a U.S. attorney for its North American businesses. The position is based in San Francisco, at the office of Artemis Internet Inc. (“Artemis”), a privately-held, wholly-owned subsidiary that provides real-word solutions for securing the Internet.

Reporting to Artemis’ CTO, the successful candidate will possess the following professional qualifications:

  • Excellent academic credentials, including a JD degree from a top law school
  • At least 5+ years of legal experience, including at least 3 years’ experience practicing with a top law firm representing technology clients
  • A deep understanding of intellectual property and contract law
  • Experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements and technology transactions
  • An active license to practice law in a U.S. state
  • Experience with data and system security law is a strong plus, as is familiarity with computer law, trademark law and laws affecting the domain name industry / ICANN
  • In-house experience (ideally at a fast-paced technology company), while not required, is a plus

In addition to the above professional qualifications, the successful candidate will possess the following personal attributes:

  • Business savvy and a client-oriented perspective
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to work with ambiguity and nuance, and the ability to communicate well with both attorneys and non-attorneys
  • Ease with senior management – the ability to “connect” with company executives and senior staff and appropriately manage such relationships
  • The ability to not just survive a very fast-paced environment, but enjoy it immensely
  • A talent for organization, including careful time-management and multi-tasking
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently

For the first six months, the hire will spend the majority of his/her time on Artemis and will be responsible for the following matters:

  • Providing legal advice on, drafting, negotiating and closing complex agreements— including commercial and technology transaction agreements, but principally a unique domain name registration agreement
  • Managing litigation and potential litigation
  • Serving as a resource for data and system security law, computer law, trademark law and laws affecting the domain name industry / ICANN
