Description

The FTC Interns will receive opportunities for learning in a professional work environment and to build leadership skills. Participants in the program will be exposed to the Federal work environment and will learn the mission of the Federal Trade Commission and it's role and responsibilities to the consumers of the United States of America. The FTC Interns will receive mentoring throughout the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) Pathways Internship Program, opportunities for career development, and perform a wide variety of special projects and administrative assignments within the FTC to support the Agency’s mission.

These positions are located in the Federal Trade Commission, Bureau of Consumer Protection (BCP), Division of Litigation & Technology Analysis (DLTA), Office of Technology, Research and Investigation. The Office of Technology, Research and Investigation studies technologies impacting consumers (including technologies concerning privacy, data security, online and mobile advertising, payment systems, malware, and fraud) and assists with tech-centric investigations.

DUTIES: 

As a FTC Intern (Information Technology) you will:

-- Assist with mobile technology investigations and research;
-- Assist teams investigating alleged violations of the statutes enforced by the FTC or of the -- Commission's rules and regulations, including but not limited to violations relating to false advertising, data security, privacy, financial products and services, and basic fraud.
-- Assist with the Office of Technology, Research and Investigations' survey and research work, which may include examinations of mobile data flows, as well as the development of technical tools.
-- Assist with special projects and tasks as assigned.

WHO MAY APPLY:

-- High School graduates enrolled for at least half-time course load at an accredited institution of higher education.
-- College students enrolled or accepted for enrollment at least a half-time course load at an accredited institution of higher education.
