What you will do:

Coordinate day-to-day operations and activities for the First Amendment (FA) Clinic and the Immigration Law and Policy Research Program at Cornell Law School. Work independently to provide a high level of guidance and support to faculty, Clinic/Program staff, and students.

Duties include:

  • Organizing a variety of events and student activities.

  • Drafting correspondence and reports, as well as preparing legal documents for filing and editing and proofreading other materials.

  • Updating/maintaining clinic and program websites, databases, and social media presence.

  • Partnering with faculty on class preparation.

  • Coordinating travel arrangements for faculty, Clinic/Program staff, students, and visitors and processing reimbursements.

  • Maintaining master calendars and scheduling meetings.

  • Monitoring clinic and program budgets, and assisting with grant-related tasks.

This grant-funded position is for a two-year term. Employment in this position through the intended term is contingent on successful performance and continued funding. Further extension of this position may be possible based on successful performance and funding availability.

This position is based in Ithaca, NY and may be eligible for work in a hybrid environment.

What we need:

Associate’s degree and 2 to 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination. Ability to work successfully under pressure in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting, handling multiple tasks with differing deadlines, and to prioritize work on projects happening simultaneously. Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with organizational, planning, time management, and interpersonal skills. Strong service orientation and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to interact with diverse range of constituents while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality with tact and discretion. Must be able to handle high volumes of work during peak periods. Resolve problems, using sound judgment. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Westlaw, Lexis, or other legal research databases, presentation, and electronic communications.

We'd prefer a Bachelor’s degree. Two years of experience as a paralegal. Notary Public certification. Comfort using technology, including social media and willingness to learn new programs. Working knowledge of WordPress, Apple software, Google Docs, and Box. Experience with Lexis, Canvas, and Cornell procurement and accounting systems. Interest in First Amendment and immigration issues.

Hiring Range:

$22.81-25.89 per hour
