The Digital Asia Hub, a recently incubated independent non-profit think tank based in Hong Kong,  seeks a senior-level professional to serve as its full-time Executive Director, who will be responsible for the development, direction and operation of The Digital Asia Hub. The Executive Director will work in collaboration with the Hub’s Board of Management as well as local, regional, and international partners on a broad range of issues and activities, including independent research, knowledge sharing, and trust and capacity building, related to digital technology, innovation, and society in Asia.

The Digital Asia Hub is a new research hub: as its tireless and dedicated leader, you will have the exciting opportunity to build up the Hub, define its position and shape its direction. As a strong but gentle leader of the Hub, you will manage and cultivate relationships with a regional and global network of donors, academics, corporate sponsors, government agencies and other research centers.

Among your responsibilities, you will raise funds to support the Hub’s staff and activities; create and manage the Hub’s budget; build up and manage the Hub’s core team; cultivate and maintain strong relationships with sponsoring organizations; promote the Hub, and collaborate and coordinate activities with friends and colleagues in the larger Digital Asia network as well as other stakeholders.

Your job is to facilitate and enable research; as such, you share with the Digital Asia Hub a serious commitment to fostering rigorous “scholarship with impact” and a strong desire to effect change in the world. You enjoy building out and being part of a collaborative community that supports deep inquiry, strives for transparency, and encourages creativity.

Basic Qualifications

-- Bachelor’s Degree required; Graduate Degree desirable.
-- A minimum of 7 years of management experience, including at least 2 years of prior experience in direct staff supervision.

Additional Qualifications

-- Experience in research or entrepreneurial non-profit setting highly beneficial.
-- Experience in bridge building with different stakeholders across different cultures desirable.
-- Prior fundraising experience.
-- Ability to make independent decisions and build consensus as needed.
-- Entrepreneurial attitude, exceptional ethical standards and in possession of an independent and sound judgment.
-- Strong interpersonal skills.
-- Outstanding writing and verbal skills in English and preferably at least one additional Asian language.
-- Familiarity with the internet research community desirable.
-- Familiarity with the Asia region desirable.

Salary: Salary is commensurate with experience.

Location: Hong Kong, with willingness and ability to travel across Asia.

The Digital Asia Hub is an independent research hub in form of a non-profit think tank based in Hong Kong. It brings together a diverse group of academic, civil society, and private sector partners to explore both the opportunities and challenges related to digital technology, innovation, and society in Asia.
