This Attorney 3 Position is part of the Procurement Contracting team within SunTrust’s Legal. The position supports SunTrust’s Marketing function and its Digital Channel team. The attorney will be responsible for drafting and negotiating contracts for vendor-provided technology and services, including advertising, sponsorships, events, and the digital channels SunTrust uses to deliver services to clients (i.e., online, mobile, and tablet), as well as the various tools used to support market segmentation and targeted marketing efforts. He or she will also be responsible for advising SunTrust on the use of social media, registering and protecting SunTrust’s marks, and advising on other intellectual property issues, such as the use of materials provided by copyright. In addition, the position will be responsible for drafting and negotiating other technology- and services-centric contracts with vendors as assigned.

Position Duties:

  • -- Draft and negotiate vendor contracts for the Marketing function and the Digital Channel team
  • -- Draft and negotiate contracts with other third party service providers in accordance with FFIEC guidelines for financial institution third-party service providers, company policy, and laws and regulations governing financial institutions.
  • -- Advise clients regarding existing contractual obligations
  • -- Manage supplier disputes, when applicable
  • -- Perform other assigned tasks

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • -- J.D. from accredited law school
  • -- Substantial experience with marketing transactions
  • -- Substantial experience negotiating complex technology and service contracts
  • -- Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • -- Ability to manage competing priorities on a regular basis

Preferred Requirements:

  • -- Large law firm experience
  • -- 10 years’ experience with marketing and digital channel technology
  •  -- 8-10 years of experience negotiating complex outsourcing, technology, and service contracts
  • -- Experience in financial services industry
  • -- Experience on the “buy side” of services and technology contracts
  • -- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other word processing applications and database management applications
