Post-Doctoral Teaching Fellow, Cybersecurity Policy – Tufts University

Tufts University has openings for two one-year teaching postdoctoral positions in cybersecurity policy beginning in September 2020; these positions are potentially renewable for a second year. The postdocs will be housed at the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, which offers a rich array of talks and discussions that will enrich the fellowship year.

Tufts University will be initiating a masters program in cybersecurity and public policy combining the efforts of the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy and the School of Engineering, Department of Computer Science beginning in fall 2020. As part of the growing program in cybersecurity and public policy at Tufts, there will be a number of associated activities, and it is expected that the postdoc will participate in these. The Tufts School of Engineering Department of Computer Science offers courses in security and in cybersecurity policy, and this will provide additional interesting opportunities for the postdoctoral scholar. In addition, the Boston area offers a rich array of talks and scholars in cybersecurity, policy, and related areas.

The postdocs will largely focus on their own research in cybersecurity policy; they will also participate in the development of the masters program by teaching recitations in the introductory technology courses: Computer Science for Future Presidents, How Systems Work, and How Systems Fail. The teaching will largely focus on policy aspects of the technology being studied, and will help prepare the postdoc for teaching technically informed cybersecurity policy. Faculty at Tufts will work with the postdocs to enable their teaching this interdisciplinary material.

Qualifications:

• Completion of a PhD or JD in cybersecurity policy or a related area on or after September 1, 2015.
• Evidence of background or strong interest in tech-related privacy.
• Interest in learning how to weave tech and policy into cybersecurity policy courses.
