The UNC Parr Center for Ethics’ January Lunch & Learn program features a discussion of the legal and ethical implications of WikiLeaks’ public disclosure of secret government documents.

In 2010, the Internet site WikiLeaks became a household name after it disclosed previously secret materials relating to foreign relations and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Parr Center Fellow Lois Boynton, a UNC-Chapel Hill associate professor of journalism and mass communication, spoke with the Triangle’s Independent Weekly about the legal, ethical, and professional implications of the situation.

Dr. Boynton and Dr. Cathy Packer, also a professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, will lead a Parr Center “Lunch & Learn” on the topic Wednesday, January 26, in the Hyde Hall University Room. Packer also is faculty director of the UNC Center for Media Law and Policy.

The event is open to the public and free, but registration is requested to ensure seating and food for all who are interested. Please register online HERE or contact Adam Schaefer for more information.
