ONA 2014The UNC Center for Media Law and Policy is joining with the Online News Association to present the fourth-annual “Law School for Digital Journalists” at the Online News Association’s 2014 conference in Chicago. The classes, which are taught by leading media lawyers, we will cover:

  • Copyright Law, including copyright basics, fair use, freelancer contracts, and licensing.
  • Newsroom Law, including newsgathering, libel, privacy, protecting sources, Section 230, and insurance.

On Thursday, we will kick things off with a plenary session moderated by ONA’s new general counsel, Michael Kovaka.  The session will cover everything from the latest First Amendment issues facing digital journalists to whether every newsroom should have a social media policy. To register, please go to the ONA’s conference page.
