On September 27, the Center for Media Law and Policy will host Christopher Wolf, senior counsel at Hogan Lovells LLP and founder of the Anti-Defamation League Online Hate Task Force. The title of Wolf’s talk will be “Online Hate: An evil to control, or the consequence of the First Amendment?”  He will focus on the recent proliferation of online hate, the response of online platforms like Facebook, and the constitutional limits on legal remedies.

Wolf will also sit down with Anne Klinefelter, Professor of Law and Director of the UNC Law Library, to explore what individual users can do to respond to online hate and the potential of counter-speech.  The recent efforts in the EU to control online speech also will be explored.

The event is free and open to the public.
