The Opportunity

The Program Coordinator for Matter is responsible for ensuring that our entrepreneurs and community members receive an extraordinary experience by managing and executing on the details of our day-to-day program operations.

You will be the point person for coordinating program activities, producing events, organizing outreach to our extended community, managing our innovation space, and ensuring a steady pulse of media capture, creation, and distribution. You will work under the direction of Managing Partner Corey Ford and will support him as needed.

To succeed in this job you’ll need to be scrappy, resourceful, detail-oriented, comfortable with ambiguity, and focused on doing whatever it takes to help to deliver an amazing experience for our entrepreneurs. You’ll see no job as above you and no job as below you.

This is an excellent opportunity to be exposed to early-stage entrepreneurship, media innovation, venture capital, and design thinking.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and manage the details of program activities, including application process, kick-off bootcamp and retreat, speaker series, share-outs, happy hours, and design reviews.
  • Produce and manage major Matter events, including Demo Days in SF and NYC, and propose, plan, and execute on new community events.
  • Research, reach out to, and coordinate speakers, mentors, guests and visitors; develop and maintain CRM system and overall Matter calendar.
  • Manage and maintain Matter innovation space; oversight of furniture, cleaning, security, supplies, equipment, technology, and refreshments.
  • Capture video and photos of various Matter activities and write and produce media for the Matter blog, newsletter, and various social media channels.
  • Manage application process, schedule interviews, and perform research, reference checks, and due diligence.
  • Organize and maintain documents and databases, including CRM system, applications, portfolio team information, resource library, media assets, and related documents for Matter operations.
  • Support Managing Partner Corey Ford as needed, including scheduling appointments and office hours.
  • Other tasks as needed.

Skills and Experience:

  • Passion for our mission of supporting entrepreneurs creating a more informed, connected, and empowered society; interest in design thinking, media, and entrepreneurship.
  • Strong project and event management skills and experience (goal-setting, organization, and implementation)
  • Self-starter with entrepreneurial drive and comfort with ambiguity.
  • Operational and administrative experience in small team and/or start-up settings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly email, proposals, and presentations.
  • Experience managing wide-ranging relationships with participants and stakeholders, including high stature investors and media executives; Excellent interpersonal skills and high EQ.
  • Ability to capture and edit media, including photos and video.
  • Familiarity with latest information management tools and software, including CRM systems, Google docs, Keynote, editing and photo software, and Mac hardware and software; Confident ability to research, learn, and propose new technology.
  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • Previous accelerator, start-up, venture capital, and/or event management experience a plus.

Salary based on experience and qualifications; additional stipend for health benefits; some night and weekend work required; occasional travel required.  This position will work full-time out of our innovative space, a 6,000 sf collaborative workspace for entrepreneurs at 421 Bryant St in San Francisco.
