Area of Specialty: Media Law and Ethics

The Department of Media Arts invites applications for a position beginning fall 2016 at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the area of media law and ethics. The Department offers undergraduate degrees in Media Arts and Converged Broadcast Media, the MA in Media Arts and MFA in Documentary Production and Studies.

Position Responsibilities:

-- Teach a combination of undergraduate and graduate courses as assigned.
-- Possible teaching areas include electronic and digital media law and policy, media ethics, intellectual property, and other relevant courses in area of expertise.
-- The teaching load varies depending on rank.
-- Conduct scholarly research leading to publications in high quality peer-reviewed journals.
-- Actively participate on committees and in faculty governance.
-- Candidates for Assistant Professor will be expected to develop a record of scholarly research necessary to obtain tenure. Candidates for Associate Professor must meet the department and university requirements for that rank at the University of North Texas.

Minimum Qualifications:

-- A Ph.D., J. D. or terminal degree in a related discipline is required at the time of appointment.
-- Ability to teach courses in electronic and digital media law and ethics.
-- Evidence of a program of sustained scholarship or creative activity.

Preferred Qualifications:

-- Prior teaching experience in media law and ethics.
-- Professional experience outside of academe.
-- Experience in developing and teaching online/hybrid classes.
