The CFPB is working to significantly expand our enforcement capacity—and our impact on the consumers we serve. The CFPB is recruiting attorneys and non-attorneys at all experience levels to join our team.

What is the impact of the CFPB’s enforcement work?

The CFPB plays an essential role in safeguarding household financial stability through our mission of ensuring that consumer financial markets are fair, transparent, and competitive. Our enforcement authority is among the CFPB’s most impactful tools—reinforcing compliance with federal consumer financial laws and sending a clear message to entities within our authority and the public that the CFPB remains vigilant on behalf of consumers.

In just the last two years, the CFPB has filed or resolved 55 enforcement actions on behalf of consumers, obtaining orders that required banks, nonbanks, and individuals to pay over $7.8 billion total consumer relief and penalties. We have acted to stop repeat offenders, including a large banknationwide consumer reporting agencypayday lender, and remittance service provider; address unlawful discrimination in the form of redlining at both banks and nonbanks; and eliminate unlawful junk fees, including certain overdraft feesrepeat non-sufficient funds fees, and unlawful advance fees.

Who are we looking for?

If you are talented, dedicated, and committed to the CFPB’s mission, we are looking for you! We are offering opportunities in multiple enforcement positions in our Washington, D.C. headquarters and in our regional offices located in San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and Atlanta. We also have flexible telework polices in place, allowing employees to be either office or telework primary. Positions will include Enforcement Attorneys as well as several non-attorney positions include analysts, paralegals, e-litigation support specialists, economists, and more!

Our work will be most effective when we incorporate a broad range of perspectives. As a result, we want our workforce to reflect the diversity of the American public. We are, therefore, particularly interested in hearing from a diverse set of candidates with a range of personal and professional experiences.

The CFPB has an exceptional, mission-driven workforce, and we invite you to join us in our mission.
