Join us on Zoom to learn about UNC’s innovative M.A./J.D. and Ph.D./J.D. Media Law Dual Degree Programs.

Are you interested in a career at the intersection of law, media, technology, and public policy? Whether your interests include privacy law, intellectual property, free expression, artificial intelligence, digital governance, or media regulation, UNC’s dual degree programs provide a unique pathway to develop expertise across disciplines.

Offered jointly by the nationally recognized UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media and UNC School of Law, these programs allow students to earn simultaneous M.A./J.D. or Ph.D./J.D. degrees in less time than pursuing each degree separately. The dual degree programs combine rigorous legal training with advanced study of media, technology, communication, and public policy, preparing graduates for leadership roles in law, business, media, government, academia, and nonprofit organizations.

Students interested in the Ph.D./J.D. program should note that a completed master’s degree is required for admission. And great news for prospective dual degree students: LSAT scores may be submitted in place of GRE scores, eliminating the need to take both exams.

Many dual degree students work closely with the UNC Center for Media Law and Policy, engaging in cutting-edge research and scholarship on some of the most pressing issues facing media and technology today. Faculty members affiliated with the program will be on hand to discuss the curriculum, admissions process, career opportunities, and answer your questions.

We will be holding two information sessions for the Dual Degree Program.  This session on October 12 is primarily geared for applicants who are not already enrolled in a JD program, including current undergraduate and graduate students.
