The First Amendment Clinic at the University of Georgia School of Law seeks a 2022-2023 post-graduate fellow for a 1-year position beginning this Fall 2022 semester.

Supported by the Stanton Foundation and officially launched in the Fall 2020 semester, the First Amendment Clinic defends and advances the rights of free speech, press, assembly, and petition via regional litigation and advocacy, while providing law students with the practice and real-world experience to become leaders on First Amendment issues. The Clinic also serves as a resource for organizations, journalists, students, government employees, and members of the public on issues of open access and free expression in order to promote a better-informed citizenry.

In collaboration with the Clinic Director and existing Clinic Fellow, the post-graduate fellow will engage in client representation, including litigation, and other First Amendment advocacy projects; help supervise law students who are engaging in similar activities; develop and deliver external presentations and other programming; research and author resource materials and policy analysis; and assist with coalition building and managing partnering relationships with public interest organizations, law firms, journalists, and other stakeholders committed to protecting expressive freedoms throughout Georgia and neighboring states. Some travel may be entailed.

Qualifications: Candidates will possess a JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school. One year or more of litigation experience and Georgia Bar admission preferred.
