Newsgathering activities are not without First Amendment and other legal protections. Dr. Cathy Packer, a former Center co-Director, worked with the North Carolina Press Association to create the North Carolina Media Law Handbook, a valuable resource for both journalists and attorneys. The Handbook provides an overview of media law topics and describes what protections and rights journalists are entitled to under the North Carolina law.
