This position is being filled under the Pathways Internship Program that is designed to attract students with paid opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while still in school.

The FTC, Bureau of Consumer Protection is now hiring second year law students for its 2017 Summer Honors Legal Internship Program. We are looking for highly motivated law students with an interest in working with the following divisions: Marketing Practices, Advertising Practices, Financial Practices, Enforcement, and Privacy and Identity Protection.

Duties:

We offer substantive legal work that gives interns an opportunity to demonstrate their writing, analytical, and advocacy skills. The small size of the program enables interns to be fully integrated onto investigative teams and take on meaningful assignments with significant responsibility. Assignments may include: drafting pleadings, discovery requests and responses; appearing at hearings and depositions with Bureau of Consumer Protection attorneys; attending meetings with parties and their outside counsel; leading interview calls and summarizing findings through written reports; reviewing documents; and researching a wide range of legal issues.

-- U.S. Citizenship.
-- Temporary position (Summer 2017).
-- Must attend an accredited law school.
-- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959

Qualifications

Pathways Internship Program Requirements:

You must meet the qualifications requirements by the closing date of this announcement. To qualify at the GS-9:

-- Students must have completed two years of law school by the beginning of the 2017 summer.
-- Students must be continuing in legal studies throughout the summer and/or into the Fall of 2017 to be eligible.
-- Students graduating in the Spring of 2017 are not eligible.

If selected, official transcripts must be submitted prior to establishing a start date.

Must maintain eligibility and enrollment for the duration of the internship.
