Description

The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law seeks a Program Manager for the Program on Data and Governance. This new Program studies the most effective ways to govern big data analytics and other innovative uses of personal data in order to realize their social and economic benefits and reduce the risks they pose to privacy, cyber security and equality. The Program conducts non-partisan, interdisciplinary research on this topic, hosts conferences and speaker events to examine it, and advises policymakers, researchers and businesses on the most effective strategies for governing data. Working alongside the Faculty Director, the Program Manager will be instrumental in planning and implementing this new Program. Specifically, the Program Manager will:

-- Conduct research and analysis to determine the most salient issues and propose programs and research initiatives to address them
-- Plan, manage and write content for the Program website, blog, events calendar, and social media accounts
-- Represent the Program at national and regional policy forums
-- Plan and coordinate logistics for symposia, roundtables and lectures
-- Assist the Faculty Director managing the Program budget
-- Identify potential funders and draft fundraising proposals
-- Assist the Faculty Director in developing curricular materials
-- Communicate with nationally prominent members of Program Advisory Board
-- Draft the annual report
-- Perform other, relevant duties as assigned by the Faculty Director.

This is a two-year appointment with an optional one-year renewal determined by the needs of the college, funding and performance.

The idea candidate will have:

-- Knowledge of and interest in the information society, big data analytics, and privacy.
-- Excellent research, writing, editing and analytical skills, including legal research experience
-- Strong written and verbal communication skills
-- Experience with program planning, administration and fundraising
-- Experience with website, blog and social media design and content creation.

Desired Qualifications

JD and degree in computer science or engineering or equivalent practical experience.
