The Berkeley Center for Law & Technology (BCLT) is seeking to hire a Patent Law Research Fellow. BCLT is the focal point at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law for teaching, research, and student activities on issues at the intersection of law and technology.  The Fellow will work with BCLT faculty and the BCLT executive director to undertake directed and independent research on patent law issues, to plan workshops and other events on patent law, and to contribute to the development of the patent law programming of the Center. The position is full-time.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Patent Law Fellow’s primary responsibilities include:

-- Researching and writing articles and papers on patent law issues;
--Working with BCLT faculty and staff to organize workshops, conferences, talks, and other events on patent law issues;
-- Expanding relationships with BCLT’s global community of sponsoring law firms, corporations, non-profit organizations, and academics;
--Assisting in the planning of the patent law curriculum at Berkeley.

Minimum Qualifications Required (at time of application):

-- Candidate must hold a J.D. degree or equivalent degree;
-- Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. state (California Bar not required).

Preferred Qualifications:

-- At least one year experience as a lawyer;
-- Knowledge of patent law and policy;
-- Excellent research, analytic, and writing skills;
-- A passion for exploring issues at the intersection of law and technology.
