Role Summary/Purpose

As a Legal Operation Intern, you will be a part of the GE Ventures Department that partners with the functional and technical teams to operate a world class licensing organization, providing full service legal support in the areas of intellectual property (IP) protection, third party agreements, regulatory, compliance, labor, trade controls, and general legal.

Essential Responsibilities

• Coordinate activities with GE Ventures attorneys on a variety of matters, including patents, trademarks, and licensing agreements.

• Prepare Confidentiality agreements and other basic licensing agreements, as well as amendments to those agreements.

• Write letters to licensees, including notice of breach, obligations, termination, amendment, and exit.

• Act as a key member of GE Ventures legal team and closely interact with the technology and business teams as well as other IP counsel.

• Conduct the annual audit of the status of GE’s current trademark licensing agreements.

• Lead the annual risk assessment to ensure compliance with GE’s Spirit & Letter.

• Work on various simplification projects.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Must be a full-time, matriculated student at an accredited college or university for the entire internship

• Must be a First or Second year Law Student with a minimum 3.3 GPA in the most recent degree completed

• Must commit to one year and/or academic year (no summer internships)

• Must meet minimum hour requirements:

• 20 hours per week during school

• 40 hours per week when school is not in session

• Must be authorized to work in the US

• Must be willing to work out of an office in Niskayuna, NY
