Description

The General Counsel will be part of a team of in-house professionals responsible for the overall delivery of day-to-day legal support. The successful candidate must have the ability to quickly understand the needs of the business and to partner with members of executive staff to effectively create and deliver solutions. This role will be responsible for negotiating, writing, reviewing, summarizing, and researching a wide variety of matters including licenses, registrations, patents, trademarks, confidentiality agreements, regulatory and other general business both domestically and internationally.

 

Duties & Responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate, write and execute various agreements
- Offer counsel on a variety of legal issues
- Advise executives and other employees in sales, product development, business development, and HR
- Manage various projects and deadlines with an acute attention to detail; timeliness, organization, accuracy and efficiency are critical
- Effectively and efficiently communicate a legal message in a non-legal language to employees
- Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations specific to industry issues, labor relations, intellectual property rights or other matters related to conducting business
- Coordinate and manage outside counsel as required regarding intellectual property, litigation, product liability, or other matters related to conducting business

 

Experience
-Minimum 5 years of experience as in-house counsel
-Prior corporate law firm experience a plus
-Coin-op, casino gaming, and intellectual property experiences are a strong plus but not a requirement

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Exhibit strong decision making skills
- Willingness to build and maintain relationships in a team environment
- Superior communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiating skills are a must
- Extensive knowledge of state and federal laws as they apply to the business

 

Education
- J.D. degree and a state bar member in good standing in IL

 

Details
- Willing to pay for relocation
- Salary will be commensurate with experience, potential for annual discretionary bonus (based on company’s overall - performance and productivity)
