Description
We provide legal and business affairs support for Sony Pictures Classics. This includes contract negotiations, document review, legal research and analysis, marketing clearances, and advising on various legal issues affecting acquisition, distribution, and marketing of SPC films.
Updating and reviewing SPC’s digital files, including scanning, logging, and re-filing SPC’s most important documents while reviewing to ensure compliance with our current business practices, particularly with respect to privacy issues and digital exploitation. Review and apply information from the files to our company’s administrative programs (i.e., GPMS, etc.) to ensure the most up-to-date information on our films. In addition, our intern would attend and participate in any department meetings and provide additional support for any projects that arise during the course of the internship.
The intern would learn project management and organizational skills, as well as gain knowledge of legal terms and general processes utilized by the motion picture industry. In addition, we plan to provide a number of opportunities to network within the legal group for Sony Classics and the SPE legal community as a whole.
Qualifications
The intern should be a pre-law undergraduate. Some understanding of and interest in legal issues and language will make this internship much more valuable and exciting for the intern. In addition, the intern should be organized, thorough, and analytical, as well as a self-starter, as this project will require work with minimal oversight.
