Description

Boston University School of Law is seeking to hire a Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor of Law for the position of Director of its Entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property Clinic.  This Clinic is part of the Entrepreneurship, Intellectual Property & Cyber Law Program, a unique collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in which BU Law students provide pro bono legal services to students at MIT and BU. The clients of the Clinic are student entrepreneurs enrolled at MIT or BU who are seeking to launch or grow early-stage businesses to develop and commercialize innovative technologies, products or services. Law students enrolled in the Clinic have full responsibility for all aspects of the matters they are assigned, under the supervision of the Director and an experienced clinical instructor. Typical matters involve entity selection and formation, intellectual property strategy, licensing, equity allocation, and financing. The ideal candidate for this position is a transactional attorney with at least five years of experience advising entrepreneurs, start-ups and early-stage companies and supervising junior lawyers. As the person principally responsible for the operation of the Clinic, the successful candidate must have excellent organizational and managerial skills. Because the Clinic also entails a seminar focused on skills and substantive knowledge relevant to start-up practice, teaching experience is a plus.  This faculty position is non-tenure track, but the Director, as a member of the faculty, participates fully in faculty governance and is expected to serve on faculty committees.

Boston University School of Law is committed to faculty diversity and welcomes expressions of interest from diverse applicants.

Applicants should send a letter of interest and a resume to Professor Stacey Dogan, Boston University School of Law, 765 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, Massachusetts 02215. Email applications are encouraged and should be sent to lawappts@bu.edu.  All open faculty positions are pending budgetary approval.
